Below are links to five sites that will help you begin to plan for your adventure as a blogger on "Write or Remain Silent." I strongly encourage you to visit and read each of these articles; they are short, straightforward and very useful, particularly if you are new to blogs. Do keep in mind, though, that not everything will be equally relevant given our goals and the scope of our blog. Still, do check them out.
"How to Blog"
Provides a very good introductory overview of blogs in general; includes not only a useful discussion of the mechanics of blogging, but also the uses, limits and potential of this form of writing.
"Nine Signs of an Effective Blog Post"
Part of ProBlogger.net's archive on Writing Content, this article by Dustin M. Wax will likely be helpful in thinking through how to prepare for, organize and eventually write your blog post.
"A List Apart: 10 Tips Tips on Writing the Living Web"
Like Dustin Wax's "Nine Signs of an Effective Blog Post," Mark Bernstein offers some practical advice for ways to produce blog posts that are focused, dynamic, informed and impassioned.
"The Silent 'I': BlogHer Session: How To Write Great Political Coverage"
From "The Silent 'I'" blogger, Glennia Campbell, a great summary of a workshop on effective blogging. Campbell's post will underscore some of the key recurring notions here: do your homework, research your topic, make the political personal and the personal political, be passionate about your topic or no one else will be, and so forth.
"How to Write a Political Blog"
A short, to-the-point list of five important aspects of any political blog entry.
