In a recent article called "America's Burden" published by the New York Post, Carter discusses how the next president will shape the world and is in fact the only person who can increase the safety of this country. "The greatest danger to the United States and the world is not from a president who does too much, but from one who does too little." Carter is afraid that Obama, if he wins the election, “is going to try to find which group of supporters he'll disappoint first."
According to the article, when America tries to defend other countries it is called a bully and when it does not act or interfere it is called weak. Because Bush did not control the government the way he should have, America’s status and position in this world has gone down but it still is and will always be the “indispensable power” of this world. The article then talks about different problems, wars and struggles in which the world had to face when Bush was in control. A few examples are the rape and slaughter that happened in Congo, the opium trade in Zimbabwe, and Russia invades its own neighbor, Georgia.
"An American President too anxious to please the world is bound to do it great harm." The author explains that he is afraid of Barack Obama’s take on this election. It is better to look ready and vigilant, then to look unaffected and careless. He seems to be extremely excited and motivated enough to lead. I believe this is a good trait we all look for in a president, it shows how willing and able he is to restore America’s power and position in this troubled world. The article hints that America has been fixing the world for a really long time now, and that is how it gained its incredible status.
